L81 mortar calculator
The calculator turns the positions of your mortar and target into sight settings: azimuth and elevation in mils. For how to fire and correct, see the mortar guide.
Elevation (mil)—

Azimuth—
Mouse wheel or two fingers to zoom, drag to pan.
How to use it
Section titled “How to use it”- Open the tactical map in game (M). One map square is 100 m, same as here.
- Tap (or click) the grid where your mortar is (green dot). The next tap places the target (red dot).
- Zoom in for precision: pinch or use the mouse wheel; the + and − buttons work too. Dragging pans the map without placing a point. The ⤢ button shows both points.
- You can also type coordinates in squares with decimals:
3.5is the middle of the fourth square. It’s easiest to use the mortar’s square as your reference and copy the target’s offset from the in-game map. - If the target is higher or lower than the mortar, enter the height difference.
- Set the azimuth and mils on the sight and fire a ranging shot.
Reading the result
Section titled “Reading the result”- Elevation (mil) is the key number to dial in. Remember: more mils = shorter.
- Azimuth is the compass bearing: 0° north, 90° east.
- Dashed rings around the mortar: the inner one is minimum range (132 m), the outer one is maximum range (684 m). The target must sit between them.
- Between table rows shows the two nearest table rows used for the calculation. Check them against the table in your sight.
Where the table comes from
Section titled “Where the table comes from”The L81 firing table comes from the open-source Apollyon WARDOGS Calculator (© 2026 Apollyon, MIT License) and was cross-checked against independent guides: 300 m → 690 mil, 450 m → 525 mil, 494 m → 470 mil.
