You have to buy a parachute and put it in its slot first. More in Getting to the zone.

Things new players usually learn after a couple of painful deaths:

  • G is the bipod, not a grenade. Grenades and other gear live in the quick slots and the equipment wheel (4).
  • Zeroing matters at range. Page Up / Page Down set your sight’s range. Without it, a sniper at 400 m will hit low.
  • Left Shift while aiming holds your breath instead of sprinting. Use it for precise shots.
  • Alt is a quiet walk. Useful when entering a building an enemy might be holding.
  • Double-tap Shift for a tactical sprint — faster than a normal sprint, for short dashes between cover.
  • Lock your vehicles (L). A bought vehicle is money, and anyone can steal an unlocked one.
  • Switch seats without getting out (9 / 0). Driver down? Take the wheel without stepping into the line of fire.
  • Proximity voice (K) is heard by everyone nearby, not just teammates. That’s how people negotiate paid rides — and sometimes deals with the enemy.
  • Ping (MMB). A marker on an enemy or vehicle beats “he’s over there by the house”.
  • Helicopter countermeasures (V) save you from missiles. Don’t waste them early.
