Capturing a tower
How to capture
Section titled “How to capture”- Clear the tower. The capture panel won’t respond while even one enemy is inside.
- Climb the stairs to the control room on the middle floor.
- Go to the computer next to the keypad and press F. If the game asks you to hold the key, hold it until the hack completes.
- Note the digit on the screen and tell your squad right away — over squad voice (J) or in chat.
Tower cooldowns
Section titled “Tower cooldowns”- Every tower starts the match on cooldown. You can’t capture them straight away. Community reports put this at about 10 minutes.
- After every change of ownership the tower goes back on cooldown. The enemy can’t instantly retake a tower you just captured — and you can’t instantly retake one you lost.
Use the opening cooldown well: set up a FOB at the nearest tower and take the approaches while it can’t be captured. More in Fortifying a tower.
The code and the keypad
Section titled “The code and the keypad”- Each tower gives one digit.
- Missing one digit? You can guess it. If you know every digit but one, brute-forcing it is realistic.
- You get only a few attempts. After several wrong entries the keypad locks for a while. Don’t punch in guesses unless you’re sure of most of the digits.
- Enter the code on the keypad of a tower your team holds — that’s where the Hot Zone will crawl. Pick the tower with your best defence.
The code race
Section titled “The code race”Endgames often come down to which team dares to enter the code first. Tips:
- Put one player in charge of the digits — they know which tower is still missing.
- Enter the code once your squad is in position. The Hot Zone will crawl to the tower, and the other two teams will follow it.
- Retake enemy towers even if you don’t plan to hold them: it costs the enemy their digit and throws off their plans.
