A loadout in WARDOGS is a bet: everything you carry is lost when you die. So the question is not “what is best” but “what pays for itself before I get killed”.
You don’t need expensive gear at the start. A free rifle and a $200 helmet, then into the zone: zone ticks pay that back in under a minute.
Spend no more than 5–10% of your balance per life. Then even 10 deaths in a row won’t take you to zero.
Unlocks first, expensive purchases later. Unlocking the AK74 costs $10,000 — your whole starting balance. Unlock what earns money: the reviver for medics, the rangefinder for recon, the Ural for drivers.
“Pays back” in the tables below is how many minutes in the control zone it takes for zone ticks to return the loadout price. A tick is $160, about $430 a minute. In the hot zone it is twice as fast. Kills, revives and spotting come on top. More in Income per action.
Prices are vendor purchase prices (wardogs.tools and Dexerto, 8 October 2026). Ammo is bought separately, but next to armour it costs next to nothing. Unlock level and unlock price are a one-off: pay once and the item stays available until the end of the season.

Pros: spotting an infantryman pays $100, a vehicle up to $1,500, an assist on a spotted kill $400–1,600. In our match that came to up to ≈ $77,000 an hour (match breakdown).
Cons: binoculars don’t show range. From Recon level 8 take the $400 rangefinder.
Spot from inside the zone, at its edge: outside it you add nothing to your team’s score. More in the Recon guide.
Pros: full auto, attachments, 550 m range, kills faster than the AK74 (0.32 s vs 0.37 s). Armour cuts 30% of damage to torso and head.
Cons: full damage only out to 300 m, slower to aim than the AK74. The AK74 ($1,600 plus a $10,000 unlock) isn’t worth it unless you want faster aiming.
From overall level 30 swap the helmet for level 2 at $500 — one of the best-value buys in the game (armour).
Next step: M4 (Assault 20, $2,800) + level 2 vest and helmet ($1,000 + $500) — $4,300, pays back in 10 minutes.
Pros: $500 for every passenger delivered alive, $750 for every kill by a player you dropped off, $500 for delivering a small supply crate. A sortie pays back after about 13 passengers.
Cons: $6,250 per sortie — lose the helicopter and you lose it all. Helicopters are hunted by the Verba and anti-aircraft guns. Learn to fly the MH-6 first; attack helicopters cost $12,500–18,000 per sortie (Pilot guide).
$13,500, pays back in 31 minutes in the control zone or 16 in the hot zone
Pros: 65% protection, the vest also covers pelvis and upper arms, the helmet covers the neck. The FAL kills in 3 hits up close, with an 800 m effective range.
Cons: 22.5 kg of armour alone. One death eats half an hour of ticks. Pays off only for players who reliably survive.
