Armour and helmets
Armour in WARDOGS isn’t extra health — it’s a percentage cut to damage on the body parts it covers. Anything it doesn’t cover takes full damage. So it matters not just what level your vest is, but what it actually protects.
| Level | Blocks | Durability | Covers | Weight | Price | Unlock |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 30% | 200 | torso | 3 kg | $400 | free |
| 2 | 40% | 220 | torso | 4.5 kg | $1,000 | overall level 30, $50,000 |
| 3 | 55% | 250 | torso | 10.5 kg | $2,000 | overall level 60, $100,000 |
| 4 | 65% | 300 | torso, pelvis and upper arms | 18 kg | $4,000 | overall level 100, $200,000 |
Helmets
Section titled “Helmets”| Level | Blocks | Durability | Covers | Weight | Price | Unlock |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 30% | 80 | head | 1 kg | $200 | free |
| 2 | 40% | 100 | head | 1.6 kg | $500 | overall level 30, $37,500 |
| 3 | 55% | 180 | head and neck | 3 kg | $1,500 | overall level 60, $75,000 |
| 4 | 65% | 200 | head and neck | 4.5 kg | $3,000 | overall level 100, $150,000 |
Armour unlocks by overall level (the WARDOG career), not by class level.
What armour doesn’t cover
Section titled “What armour doesn’t cover”- Level 1–3 vests cover the torso only. Pelvis, arms, legs and neck stay exposed and take full damage. Only the level 4 vest adds the pelvis and upper arms.
- Only level 3 and 4 helmets cover the neck.
- Armour wears down. Every hit makes it thinner: the damage cut stays the same, but it gets easier to penetrate.
Two takeaways. Against an enemy in a heavy vest, aim for the pelvis and legs. And when buying armour for yourself, the $500 level 2 helmet is one of the best deals in the game: the head is the most vulnerable spot.
Recon ghillie suit
Section titled “Recon ghillie suit”| Item | Price | Unlock | What it does |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ghillie Body Suit | $3,000 | Recon level 24, $80,000 | camouflage in foliage |
| Ghillie Headwear | $2,500 | Recon level 24, $60,000 | worn only with the body suit |
The ghillie suit blocks no damage. Instead it hides you from IR rangefinders, and enemies you kill don’t see where the shot came from on their death cam. It doesn’t replace armour: a Recon in a ghillie suit dies to the first burst.
Which ammo to use against armour
Section titled “Which ammo to use against armour”AK74 shots to the chest needed to kill, per the wardogs.zone calculator:
| Ammo | No armour | Vest 1 | Vest 2 | Vest 3 | Vest 4 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Standard (FMJ) | 4 | 6 | 7 | 9 | 11 |
| Armour-piercing (AP) | 5 | 6 | 7 | 8 | 8 |
| Hollow point (HP) | 2 | 13 | 18 | 41 | 285 |
- Standard is enough early in a match, when most players wear level 1 armour or none.
- Armour-piercing is for level 3–4 vests. Against level 1 it’s no better than standard and costs more.
- Hollow point kills an unarmoured enemy twice as fast but is useless against any vest. Only take it if you shoot where there’s no armour.
Weapon pages use a calculation for the upper torso (wardogs.tools), so their numbers may differ by one hit. Ammo prices and unlocks are in the weapons overview.
